About
THE MRC
The San Juan County
Marine Resources Committee is working to:
- protect and restore nearshore, estuarine and
rocky reef habitats;
- support salmon and bottomfish recovery by establishing
marine protected areas;
- and to promote public awareness about marine
resource issues.
The San Juan MRC was created to provide a citizen-based
forum to advise the Board of County Commissioners on marine issues.
First established in 1996, MRC serves to represent all members
of the local community, including commercial users, scientists,
environmentalists, fishers, and whale watch operators.
